A free meditation timer with optional calming sounds
Kavana can be used as a free meditation timer for a self-directed practice. Choose a custom duration in Focus for a countdown, Endless for open-ended timing, or Rest → Sleep for optional sound that stops after a selected time. You can practice in silence.
Time a quiet meditation
- Create a free account or sign in, then open Focus.
- Choose Custom and set your duration, or choose Endless to count up.
- Leave the task and growing plant optional. Pause sound or use Mute for silence.
- Start the timer and enter quiet focus if you want a simpler screen.
- Finish the session or let the countdown complete. Sessions recorded through Focus appear in your focus history.
Use a timer for calming sound
Open Rest, choose Sleep, and select the sound you want. Choose 15, 30 or 60 minutes for a fade-out without an alarm, or “Until I stop it” for continued listening. Press Start sleep sounds. Starting this mode pauses an active focus timer.
Sleep is a timed sound mode rather than a guided meditation course. You can stop it whenever you like. Browser and phone power settings can interrupt playback, especially when the screen locks.
Try breathing or a quiet break
Rest also includes a breathing activity, a singing bowl and a sand garden. These tools do not require rewards or coins. You decide whether to use a visual cue, a sound, or neither.
Different people, different preferences
Kavana’s timing and sensory choices are designed to be adaptable for neurotypical and neurodivergent adults and children. No single duration or sound is presented as the right choice for everyone. Kavana does not diagnose conditions or provide medical treatment.
